Responding to market demand, in 2012 Diesel Toys ® developed a professional Diesel Conversion kit aimed at the DIY crowd. The customer response was absolutely phenomenal! These kits were designed for the 2005+ Tacoma, Fj Cruisers, and the 2003+ 4runners using state-of-the-art CNC fabrication methods. These kits provide a true factory diesel conversion with zero headaches and are the result of 2+ years in development and more than 15 years in diesel conversion experience.

How the process works

• Send an email to our sales team where we will put you in contact with a licensed installer in your area.
• The installer will provide a written invoice for the installation itemizing parts/labor breakdown.
• Once they receive your deposit, they will set a project start date as well as order your engine set and components

A Few Words on Toyota Immobilizer Systems

All Toyota D-4D engines utilize one of the most sophisticated Immobilizer systems on the market. There is no known way to bypass these systems. What this means, is that even if you somehow successfully installed a D-4D engine into your vehicle, the ECU would be locked and not allow the engine to run as the ECU needs to be programmed to your specific vehicle. It’s a common misconception that simply having a key from the donor vehicle is a method of bypassing this programmer. All Toyota D-4D ECU’s use volatile memory chips for their immobilizers which means that if the battery power is cut to the ECU for any considerable length of time, the ECU will have to be re-programmed. We had to purchase a $20,000 ELF locksmith licensed Toyota Europe certified programmer in order to successfully code the new computers to our conversion vehicles. While this kind of investment is not practical for most DIY’ers, it is a necessary service for us to offer the immobilizer service as part of our kit sales. We provide our Immobilizer Programming services to all of our conversion customers free of charge.

We have received an overwhelming amount of feedback and questions regarding our D-4D Kits®. Folks are asking what they’re made of, are they hand-built? etc. All of our kit  components are first developed using Solidworks™ 3D design software. This allows each piece to be precisely crafted for the perfect fit each and every time. Once we’re done with the design phase of a component, we take it to our prototyping station for final cut and assembly using our state-of-the-art Torchmate™ CNC cutting system. These systems are phenomenal for taking our designs from the computer to the finished part with astonishing results. Over the past year, we have been stress testing all of the components included in our D-4D Kits ®  for every stress and abuses we can think of. You can be sure that when you purchase a kit, it’s been built to last.
